DIY Embellished Frames

February 6, 2014 By Meegan 9 Comments

Hello, Hello my friends!!  I promised I would be posting my DIY Embellished Frames yesterday and I got knocked into bed with the stomach flu.  Boo to the flu!!  I am still in my comfy pajamas and my bed head (I look REALLY pretty today), but I am excited to share a fun, easy and a great gift for Valentines day.

If you have ever been into Hobby Lobby (well, who hasn’t, right?), you will be amazed at their vast sea of gorgeous and unique frames.  One of a kind, really.  Well, I thought I would make my own Hobby Lobby frame.

Adding a brooch to a frame makes it personalized with a little bling.  I get so many compliments on my frames, and little does anyone know that I only spent a few dollars!  I love when that happens.

I shared this frame on my Valentine Shelves a few days ago.

Using a thrifted frame that cost $1, I painted it Valentine red.

I found a rhinestone brooch at Hobby Lobby for 64 cents!!  What a bargain, right?

After the paint was dry I sanded the edges so you could see all the detail on the frame.  To adhere the brooch, I used 9001 glue.  It has worked best for me everytime I have made one of these frames.

You can see on the red frame I opted to hang my picture with a wire and a glittered clothes pin for variety.

I found this flower brooch also at Hobby Lobby for about $2 and it is perfect for  the look I was hoping for.

This is a great gift or addition to your home decor anytime of year.  Paint a frame any color you like, add a brooch and you are set.  A unique frame for just pennies.

I hope you will make a DIY Embellished Frame and let me know all about it.  I would love to see a picture, as well.

I am going to crawl back in bed, and sip on some ginger-ale…

Love them Meegan! I have never thought of adding a embellishment like that to one of my frames but I love it! Also love the wire and clothespin on that red frame. Too cute!

Ohhh…….this inspires me!! I have some old brooches that belonged to my mom in a jewelry box. I just posted about her old recipes that I framed. She has a turquoise brooch that I bet would look SWEET on my white frame! Thank you for the cute idea!
