Homemade Bacon Gravy From Scratch

October 10, 2025 By Meegan Leave a Comment

When I make my Homemade Bacon Gravy From Scratch, there isn’t a set recipe with measurements. (OOPS!) BUT, I do make bacon gravy from scratch.

Below you will find a well measured recipe of how this bacon gravy comes out SO delicious, creamy and wanting for more.

*This post was updated and modified November 2025.

{Homemade Bacon Gravy From Scratch}

Ingredients:

1 lb bacon of your choice

1/2 cup flour

3 cups of whole milk

salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Directions:

*Cook bacon in an iron skillet until done. (I like mine crispy)

*Remove bacon from drippings. Place on a paper towel to drain.

*On a medium heat, gradually sprinkle flour into drippings. With a wire whisk, combine drippings      and flour to make a roux.

*Once you have a smooth consistency, gradually add your milk, stirring continually. Don’t walk away from your pan.

*Stir, stir, stir until the ingredients thicken up. Season well with salt and pepper. (We like lots of pepper on our gravy)

TIP: Did you know if you place a lid on your gravy it will NOT stay a thick consistency?
