My Latest Thrifted Finds

August 8, 2019 By Meegan Leave a Comment

You know how I love thrifting and junkin’, right? Well, I have been busy doing both since moving into the new cottage apartment. I am excited to show you my latest thrifted finds…

What’s even more fun? Nothing was over $20! It has been a real treasure hunt, that’s for sure.

The weekend before the big move, I went to the thrift shop looking for an unusual and unique table. Something that would add some personality to the new apartment. I walked the store, found some awesome bar-b-que utensils, (because I could now grill right outside our front door.  At the last place, grilling wasn’t allowed), a pink purse and a couple of plates. As I was getting ready to leave, this vintage octagon table jumped out at me. Not really, but I hadn’t seen it until I was ready to pay for my other pieces! A little worn for wear, I KNEW it needed to come home with me. At $8, I was excited to give it a new home with some fresh TLC, of course!

I just love the curves, spindles of a hollowed back chair. I was taking out the trash and spotted the back of this chair. I thought about it all day, until, finally I told my husband about it. He went right over to the trash can and pulled it out. He loved it as much as I did!

It’s sturdy, but VERY dirty. It needs some real work. But, I am glad to do it. I can’t wait to show you what I have done with it.

I have been wanting a round table to use in our living room. My heart just about jumped out of me when I spotted this barrel style table at Goodwill.

I carefully inspected it. It was just what I had pictured in my mind. Alas, there was a sold tag on it. I was pretty bummed.

I left feeling a little defeated. I then went to two other local thrift shops. But anything I saw was as though I was settling. I was okay and would stay on the hunt.

Before I went home for the day, I stopped back by Goodwill. LO and BEHOLD! The table was still there and had not been sold! The tag was gone and I couldn’t get to the register fast enough. In the end I paid $16 for the table I had envisioned all along!

I happened upon a 1/2 off sale at Savers on a Monday morning. To say the store was crowded would be an understatement. EVERYTHING was half off. From housewares, to skirts to furniture was half off. There were not any empty carts and the line went around the store.

That did not stop me and my husband from browsing and finding some treasures! I found this poster size botanical print for $10.00. I was over the moon with the colors (that I am incorporating in this new place). It is matted and framed with real glass. And yes, you guessed it…I paid FIVE dollars for it. I also found a darling floral skirt for 5 bucks, as well. Did I mention that it still had the original tags on it? I will be posting that on my Instagram feed very soon.

Lastly, (For this blog post) I found this incredibly priced Apothecary jar at Hobby Lobby. I had seen amazing art work in the 70% off section the week before. And of course, that was all gone. Rightfully so! There were so great pieces.

And then I came across this beauty! Regularly $24. It was now $4.99. I am excited to show you what I have already done with it. But that is for another blog post…

My love of thrifting, hunting sales and maybe even a little dumpster diving has proven to be fruitful over the past couple of months.

Tell me…Do you hunt sales, go junkin’ or dumpster dive like I do? I would LOVE to hear your stories and great finds.

Thanks for joining me today! It is always a pleasure to have you here.
