Roman Rustic Desk Makeover

June 25, 2015 By Meegan 13 Comments

Good Morning everyone!  I am happy to be a part of yet another Themed Furniture Makeover Day. It is always one of my favorite days of the month. This month the theme is “Rustic”.  We could use our own interpretation of what rustic could be. I love being creative and seeing what my imagination could come up with, don’t you?

Today my “Rustic” themed makeover is worth spending your time here…

Computer Desk Before

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you KNOW I like blue, chippy furniture and more feminine than masculine accents.

BUT, today I decided to add some masculinity along with keeping to my blue and white tones in our home. Our computer desk was definitely worn and chippy. I tried painting it with acrylic paint 5 years ago. Well, you can all see how well that went. I didn’t know what the heck I was doing, I just wanted a blue top for my desk.

It has been that way ever since. It was getting more and more torn up. And it didn’t look good at all.

Computer Desk with Champness Fusion Mineral Paint

With a little TLC and some Fusion Mineral Paint, I was on my way to creating a masculine style desk. The color I chose is Champness. It is the perfect balance of blue and gray combined. It is already looking SO much better. BUT, I wasn’t done, yet.

Lamp White Fusion Mineral Paint

I wanted to add a stencil as a border. You know, something not flowery or feminine. The color I chose for the stencil is Lamp White.

Painted and Stenciled Computer Desk

WOW! What a difference, right?  You can’t even tell it is the same desk. I decided on this type of stencil because of the map that is hanging in this room already. (Pictures below)

Of course, if you are doing a rustic project, a little sanding is always a must.

Rustic Map Mouse Pad

My husband lived in Texas for a few years, so the map of Texas makes an ideal mouse pad, doesn’t it?

I love how this Roman Rustic Desk Makeover turned out. So many details to love and appreciate all in one space.

I know, I added a floral cushion, but that will be changing soon. Something more masculine, I am sure.

To be honest this came out so much better than in my head. Whew!  That is a relief, for sure.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you back here VERY soon!

Love the color and stencil pattern that you chose for this makeover. The United States map hanging over the desk is a great touch.
