Field Trip Friday with What Meegan Makes 2012 Christmas Tour

[slideshow_deploy id=’5749′]
Well here we are…In Christmas season, already!!  And it is Field Trip Friday with What Meegan Makes 2012 Christmas Tour.
I thought it would be fun to share with some of my new readers my home at Christmas time last year.  It still inspires me while I decorate for this year.
As you enter our home this is what you will find.  Snow Globes, Christmas shelves,  and branches  filled with snow flakes and DIY birdhouses.
On my Thrifted coffee table you will enjoy my grandpa’s croquet box filled with snow flakes, ornaments, candle, and book page cones.  I also included my DIY Chalkboards clipped with painted clothes pins.
I love to collect Nativity sets.  This is the first one I received from a friend when she visited Italy.  I love the look under a cloche.
This “Elf on the Shelf” was my mom’s when she was a child in the 40s.  He has been in our home as long as I can remember.
I painted all of these little birdhouses and found some branches outside.  I love this look and a little bit of personality.
I have 3 Christmas trees this year.  Each has it’s on style for the room that they have found home.
Hubby collects snow globes.  His wish is to have enough for each grand baby to eventually choose their own.  They each play music as well. Pure magic for the grand kiddos.
My view from the kitchen into the living room.
Probably one of my favorite rooms in our home during the Christmas season.  The guest bathroom.  The birdhouse was a gift from my dad.  Doesn’t this look so inviting?
Thanks for joining me today for Field Trip Friday with What Meegan Makes 2012 Christmas Tour.  I hope you enjoyed your stay.  Come back again soon!
Make it a Field Trip Friday!

Field Trip Friday-My “New” Living Room Tour

September 6, 2013 By Meegan 12 Comments

It’s Field Trip Friday!!  I am excited to show you my “New” living room.  No, we haven’t moved out of our place, but we HAVE moved furniture around to give us a whole new look and feel.

I can hardly wait to start the tour!

My "New" Living Room Tour

My living room used to look like this as of  last Friday:

My "New" Living Room Tour

I posted My Living Room Makeover last year around this time.  It looks nice, right?  It’s open and feels like a home.  I was really happy with the feel I was creating.  And, I still am working on the look and feel I want to create.

But, after thinking, pondering, and finally having in my head what I REALLY wanted, this is what I did.

My "New" Living Room Tour

Now as you walk in the door, this is what you will see.  Wow!  It’s SO open now!  You can feel how much room we made by moving the sofa at an angle.  I like the look of the grandfather clock behind the sofa.  It is like layering your clothes.  You can layer furniture as well.  And then with my grandpa’s wooden chest flanked to the left of the sofa, it is warm and inviting.

My "New" Living Room Tour

I love this vignette with my Fleur Box,my painted lamp, a vase filled with various blue marbles, and of course my blue insulators.

My "New" Living Room Tour

As you look further to the left you can get a better idea of how the WHOLE room looks, now.  I love that you can see the shutter next to the Grandfather clock.  They pair well together, don’t they?  It’s really hard to see my curtains, but they are sheets from good ol’ Walmart.  Yep, I clipped them onto a curtain rod and now they are perfect for this room.

My "New" Living Room Tour

I REALLY like the chair in this corner.  The framed girl portrait is a print.  It is one of our family favorites.  We often try to guess what she is thinking.  Is she waiting for someone, has she just said good-bye to her love, is she sad, how old is she?  It’s kind of a fun little game we all like to play.

Doesn’t the chair look happy with the lamp behind her.  If you look in the first picture, you will notice that I have painted my lamp stand Antique Gray from Ace hardware.  Yes, I also made the lampshade flowers to add some softness to the room.

My "New" Living Room Tour

I made the pillow before I even started blogging, but you can find the instructions here.  A more full look at the bookshelves.  If you notice, in the first picture all of the books have a dark cover.  I turned ALL of the books around so that only the pages show, rather than the bound side.  It creates a softer look for the whole area, don’t you think?  Then I didn’t have to recover the books, either.  Saved me a lot of time.  Also framing the book page wreath makes it an art piece, rather than a seasonal piece.

My "New" Living Room Tour

And this is what it looks like as you walk in as you look to your far right.  I love the feel and look of this room now.  I seriously walk into this room and smile every time I see it.  I love all of the layers.  NOW, it feels like Meegan is at home.

Now I am just looking for a new rug.  I have been for months.  I might just need to make my own shower curtain rug, so I get what I really like and want.

I hope you have enjoyed my Field Trip Friday “new” living room tour.  It is really fun for me to share it with you!

An Obsession With Book Pages

December 15, 2012 By Meegan 25 Comments

I have an obsession with book pages!  Any chance I can I use them. They can be large or small. The older the better! Another fun thing about book pages is that you don’t have to spend more than a $1.00 for any one thrifted book.

You can give a vintage book new life by making crafts with the book pages. I have made 18 book page crafts (so far) to show you here. Each one is unique and creative.

*This post was updated November 2025.

Here are just a few things I like to do with book pages:
