I am thinking about the Ten Things I Won’t Be Buying in 2025. What are your thoughts?
Do you have TOO much? Too many clothes? Too many crafts? Too many towels? Etc…
Sometimes we need to slow down and review what we already have. I am definitely speaking for myself.
I am starting with a simple solution.
Top on my list of NOT buying in 2025 are hand towels. I am blessed enough to have SEVERAL hand embroidered towels from my grandma. Each one is unique with various colors and patterns. I have been keeping them in a box for YEARS! It’s now time to use and enjoy each one on a daily basis.
Number two on my list is Mod Podge. I KNOW, it sounds crazy. BUT, I have more Mod Podge than I could ever need. I have glossy, matte, original, for paper, for glass, etc…PLUS! I can make my own with water and school glue. Yep, passing on Mod Podge for me in 2025.
Number three on my list of NOT buying in 2025 are seashells. I LOVE sea shells. I have shells that my grandma collected that are well over 100 years old. I have shells my family brought to me from Bora Bora, Ohau, Maui, Bermuda, Guam, Mexico, Jamaica, Baltic Sea, etc… Shells that have been collected by my grandkids, just for me. Yet, I find myself browsing online for shells to craft or decorate with. I don’t need any more. I have some of the most beautiful and unique seashells to decorate my “cottage in the desert”. I won’t be purchasing any sea shells in 2025.
Fall decor is number 4 on my “no buy” list for 2025. I have PLENTY of Fall items to decorate this apartment. Recently I have even given most of mine to our local thrift store. Having used it for many years, it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. And what I DO have left can be painted, changed up and used in a new way. There is NO need for me to buy more. What about you?
Next on the list is tea cups and saucers. Oh my goodness. THIS might be THE hardest one to resist! I LOVE me a beautiful tea cup. I’ve been blessed with stunning tea cups and saucers, Whether as gifts, thrift store finds, or family heirlooms. I have a beautiful collection. They are used in my daily life continually. My cupboard is full and I use what I have. So i’ll be adding tea cups and saucers are on the “no buy” list for 2025.
On to number 6 of not buying for 2025. End tables. All of them are thrifted or trash bin finds. There isn’t a lot of money spent on them, but there are PLENTY. It is fun to paint them up, give them new life and even give them away to family and friends. Another hard one to give up, BUT will totally be worth it.
FOUR more to go… Have YOU thought about what you could pass by this year?
Number seven on my list is stencils. I LOVE stencils. They are fun to create something fresh, colorful and new. Having been crafting for more than 50 years, I have SO many stencils. Each beautiful for inspiring creativity. Nope, not buying more stencils this year.
For number eight on my “no buy” for 2025, I will not be buying any wreaths. Wreaths are fun to decorate your front door, welcome guests and to display on a mirror in any home. As of right now, hanging in the closet is a wreath for every holiday and/or season. It may be homemade OR store bought. I’m content with what I have. No new wreaths in 2025.
Number nine on the “no buy” for 2025 will be vintage books. Another item that is fun to decorate with, use for crafts and of course, read. There’s everything from the Bible, history, poems, children’s, mystery, jokes, games, etc… There probably isn’t anything rare or unusual, but each wonderful in it’s own way. I wish that each book could tell me who has owned it, where it has been or traveled, and how it ended up on a shelf in Las Vegas. I need to enjoy what I have.
And finally at number 10!
Vintage Blue Mason Jars. They sit proud in my apartment cottage in different areas here. Displayed in a vintage croquet box, holding q-tips, storing sugar, a thread spool holder, or as a vase. The blue mason jars are a well loved staple. Yet, again. I have my fair share. Not buying anymore Vintage Blue Mason Jars in 2025.
I hope this has got your own thoughts of what YOU don’t need to buy in 2025. It could be ANYTHING that you have too much of or what you don’t use anymore. Maybe you have moved to a smaller place, or things you have grown tired of. Sometimes our buying has to do with habits. Not needs.
AND, you will save money $$$. That’s always a plus.
Will I still enjoy shopping? Absolutely! Will I enjoy seeing a gorgeous tea cup, a lovely shell, a clear blue mason jar, a fresh new towel? Absolutely. Will I be tempted to buy it? Probably. But passing it by will even feel better.
Life is good! I have all the things I need. Perfect-not at all. But enough-Yes!
What about YOU?
