Top Ten Cottage Home Decor Ideas

December 31, 2018 By Meegan 1 Comment

I am happy to share my Top Ten Cottage Home Decor Ideas with you.

It’s that time of year for reflection and reassessing my blog, style, and life. I like to refresh my home, sometimes daily. Are you that way, too?

This past year has been no exception. My style is rustic, vintage, thrifted and somewhat classic. I like vintage books and fabrics, rusty metal, chippy paint, torn edges and tufted upholstery.

These are all a part of my Top Ten Cottage Home Decor Ideas featured on my blog this past year.

Based on blog viewership, I always find it interesting when a blog post is in the top ten over and over. I guess it means that I am “doing something right”.  Although, I have always just decorated in and how I like. Whether it is conventional or on the artsy side of decorating. If I like it, I do it.

I think that’s how it should be. Whether you mix lace with a rusty spring or black paint with a vintage bath tub…if you like it. Do it. It is YOUR home, YOUR space and it should be both appealing and comfortable for you.

(That’s my thought process anyway)

I used a pallet to make my cottage sign. I share the tutorial here.

Although I have shared my furniture makeovers over my years of blogging, my Furniture Makeovers combined was clearly a follower fave.

My master bedroom is rarely photographed because the lighting is so bad. But, when I do ANY blog post showing my master bedroom, it’s a big hit. It’s such a compliment to me.

Not only were my Patriotic home décor and recipes ideas a big hit on my blog, but on Instagram, as well.

One thing about blogging is that something you made a few years ago, can make it’s rounds and become popular again. And that is exactly what happened with this simple DIY wreath.

With just a few simple things like string, feathers, dried eucalyptus leaves and hot glue, you can create a cottage style banner to use in your home all year long. I originally made this for my Fall decorating, but I still have it up for my home décor. AND, people love it.

If you know me very well, you KNOW that I love to make book page crafts. This vintage crinkly book page wreath is a personal favorite. And one of my followers faves, too. It took very little time to make and I love the unique look.

I love my grandma’s Franciscan Ware Desert Rose dishes. I was gifted them after she passed away. I don’t necessarily like the typical reds, oranges and greens for Fall or Thanksgiving. So, I thought, “Hmmm…what the heck, let me try these dishes for a Pink Thanksgiving tablescape.” Lucky for me, I loved it and so did my followers!

Like I said in the beginning, I like combining rustic and chippy goodness in my home décor, including Christmas. I was amazed at how this Christmas centerpiece made from a barnwood box was a follower and Pinterest favorite.

And, lastly my Christmas home tour was a fun, creative project. I took my time and tried to create an intentional Christmas cottage feel in my Las Vegas condo in the desert. I think I succeeded with all the blog traffic I have received since this blog post was published.

Thanks for making my Top Ten Cottage Home Decor Ideas a great success for me this year. It has been a pleasure to create a cottage feel in our tiny condo. I look forward to next year with great hope and excitement, as we are moving within the next few weeks.

I will get to share a whole new perspective and style in our new place. The creative juices are flowing…

Take care and make it a wonderful 2019.

We just finished our pre-approval and are set to go, yeah! We were out with our realtor again today and then I left my phone at one of the houses… Luckily, he found it just a bit ago. I am SO OVER looking at houses online and in person ~ ready to move in and be done. ;)

Enjoy this year and I look forward to seeing your new home,
    Barb :)
