In the U.S. the patriotic holidays are coming up soon. BUT, my tutorial for How To Make a Patriotic Flag Banner will apply to any nation or country.
And since my birthday happens to be the 4th of July I love this banner even more. I know, right? The best birthday ever!
In just a few easy steps, you have a banner just like they sell at Pottery Barn, BUT, for a lot less.
To learn How To Make a Patriotic Flag Banner, you will need:
2-flags measuring 18×12 inches (I bought mine in a package of 12 from the floral market)
fabric scissors
hot glue gun
hot glue
measuring tape or ruler
jute measuring 3 1/2 feet
To mimic the Pottery Barn banner, I cut out five triangles, measuring 6 inches across the top and 7 1/2 inches down.
I liked the fact that two of the triangles had both the stars and stripes and 3 had downward stripes. But, of course, you can make yours any way you like.
After the triangles were cut, I used the glue gun and glue sticks to attach the flag triangles to the jute.
I started in the middle and worked my way out. I was trying to make sure the flag triangles were centered. But, in the end, it really doesn’t matter. It is really up to you.
The whole idea is to create something that goes with your home decor for inside OR outside.
I was enjoying the fact that a patriotic banner blended with both my indoor and outdoor decor.
P.S. You can find the tutorial for the book page and burlap banner right here.
Learning How To Make a Patriotic Flag Banner couldn’t be easier and it only took me about 20 minutes from beginning to end.
You could make several for your patriotic holidays. Some of which could be: July 4th, Sept. 11th, Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day and so on. Wouldn’t they look pretty stringing across your patio for a Bar-b-Que? Even with some twinkling red, white and blue lights?
Get your creative juices going and create your own Patriotic Flag Banner.
