Using a Door For a Living Room Accessory

July 10, 2015 By Meegan 10 Comments

Happy almost weekend! I hope your week has been full of family, friends and those you love. Ours most certainly has. I love Summer visits from and with the grandkiddos. It makes me smile A LOT.

Another thing that makes me smile is… Using a Door For a Living Room Accessory. Yep, you read that right. Let me tell you a little bit about my adventure with this door…

White Thrifted Door

I saw this at my local thrift store and for $20, I couldn’t pass it up.

The shapes, the curves were everything I wanted for the

Bathroom. I have a HUGE wall that I wanted to fill up. A door seemed to be just the answer.Coral Thrifted Door

The Thrifted Coral “Bathroom” Door looked great against my newly painted beach style hamper.

After a few months I thought it would be fun to turn it into a Thrifted Door Bathroom Organizer.

It was perfect for us and our lifestyle.

BUT, I never could get used to the baskets. I wanted shelves or something else. I never really could get the feel or look I wanted with the baskets.

So what did I do?

I thought about Using a Door For a Living Room Accessory. Yep, THAT is what I really wanted from the beginning. But I didn’t know how to incorporate it into our living room.

Thrifted Door

The first thing I did was paint it.

Thrifted Door with Fusion Mineral Paint

Using Fusion Mineral Paint, I was able to get the look I have been looking for since I first purchased the thrifted door.

The light yellow is called: Buttermilk Cream

And, this green is: Upper Canada Green

The white trim is Casement.

It is a perfect accent to our living room gallery wall.

And the wooden “grate” hanging on the door? It is also a thrift find with an AMAZING story. But, that is for next week…

Thrifted Door as A Living Room Accessory

Using a Door For a Living Room Accessory is creative, fun and a great way to add a focal point of interest to any room.

What do you think? Are you going to be Using a Door For a Living Room Accessory anytime soon?

As always, thanks for stopping by and making my day even better with your lovely comments.

Love the door with the wooden grate! I have a wooden grate that my grand more gifted me and am turning it into a jewelry holder/display.

Okay, this is too weird! Thankfully mine is blue and I will have a different wreath on it, but I literally have it with my olive basket in front and pillows and a blanket. Too funny! :) I was going to get the wreath and put it up on the blog soon :)

I love how you incorporated it into your living room and the color is wonderful. I would love a door in our living room but like you just can’t seem to figure out how to incorporate it. Thank you for sharing at Share It One More Time. Cathy
