Hey everyone! How are you doing? I am looking forward to Spring and warmer weather and pretty soft pastels. I am excited about my Vintage Styled Shelves because I am using Hubby’s grandma’s vintage glasses from the depression era.
I have had them stuffed in a box for over ten years now.
I thought it was time to share them to the world on my Vintage Styled Shelves.
I feel very blessed to even have the glasses in our possession. You see there are over twenty children and grandchildren that wanted these glasses.
Before she passed away at the age of 87, Grandma had promised the glasses to my Hubby. I knew that they were one of the only possessions she owned from her marriage and raising a family.
I kept them in a box because I wanted to keep them as a family heirloom for our own children. But, I have thinking about them lately. I knew it was time to bring them out for our enjoyment. Hubby is just as pleased as can be. You see, he doesn’t have much from his family as far as remembrances. Like I mentioned earlier there are so many others in his family, each relative received a small memento of their grandma.
He looks at the shelves now and smiles as he remembers spending the night in her studio apartment in downtown Los Angeles many years ago.
Not only that, but they look so lovely with my grandma’s desert rose dishes. It is like a perfect match.
I love how clean and crisp the dishes look next to the glasses.
I really like the feel of the Vintage Styled Shelves.
These pink retro bowls are a perfect addition to the Vintage Styled Shelves. Even though they are complete different style from the glasses and dishes. The color is almost an exact match to both the glasses and the Desert Rose dishes.
I found the tea pot last week at Stein Mart. I think it looks fabulous with my Vintage Styled Shelves. It has the vintage flair that I like.
The Vintage Styled Shelves have been a joy to create as I mixed Hubby’s childhood memories as well as my own with a few dishes and glasses. It is interesting how now the Vintage Styled Shelves have become a conversation piece for our home. A piece of history right in our own kitchen.
Thanks for stopping by today. I REALLY appreciate it.
Make it a lovely day.

Love the shelves, you are right it is so important to have somethings that were special to the people you love.Perhaps you already do but may I suggest you USE the glasses? Things gain life by use! How beautiful they would be on your table!!
You created beautiful vignettes by your sweet additions to your shabby shelves, the white tea pot? Love it!
