Vintage Window Frame and Layering

August 5, 2014 By Meegan 26 Comments

Happy Tuesday.  It’s fun to be here and share the second part of my Road Trip to Caliente.  Remember my new friend, Susan???  She was so excited to show me everything in her shop.  It was fascinating and a lot of fun.

Caliente1

She has so many things in her shop and home, it’s hard to know where to start.  BUT, the one thing that caught my eye right off the bat was…

A Vintage Window Frame. Oh yes, I have been looking for just the right one that would fit in front of my large mirror.

I had a vision of using a Vintage Window Frame and Layering it with other accessories in our home. I could hardly wait to get started.

  Vintage Window Frame and Layering

I literally have been looking for months.  And when I walked into Susan’s shop, I KNEW my search had ended.  The ideal spot would be on my vintage craft cupboard.

Vintage Window Frame and Layering

My first step was to lean the mirror again the wall.  The next idea was to hang my lights on the mirror. I LOVE these lights all year-long. They add great ambiance in our home.

After that was easy.  I used my “antique” clock from Hobby Lobby, in front of my “new” vintage window frame.

Placing a potted plant with a large shell in it in front of the window frame, I knew I was almost done.  Using a tiny succulent plant on the other side of the mirror, I was ALMOST finished layering the cupboard.

The icing on the cake is the vintage hanger from the same shed the window came from.

I like the idea of Using a Vintage Window Frame and Layering it with the mirror.  I think the vintage window frame looks a mirror, too.

To think the vintage window frame and the hanger came from this shed makes it even MORE special to me.

Would you use a Vintage Window Frame and hanger for layering in your home?

Vintage Window Frame and Layering

Do you “layer” accessories in your home?  It’s kind of like layering your clothing.  You would wear a top, with a scarf and then add a sweater or jacket to finish off the look.

That’s what I did with my Vintage Window Frame and Layering.

I just love this! I grew up in the country and my parents have a lot of vintage things around the house. I would love to redecorate my house to be more vintage.

I love the gorgeous vignette you created – the window just “makes” it! I have a similar window (its white) but I may just have to paint it, after seeing how great yours looks! Is that the original patina, or did you paint it?

      Hi Amy!
Thanks for visiting my blog. No, I didn’t paint the window frame. I wanted to leave the patina just as it was. Aged and weather worn :)

This looks so nice. I love layering stuff and for me the fun part is how often I can switch it up and make it look like a whole new arrangements with many of the same items just moved around!
