Homemade Italian Garlic Croutons

January 12, 2013 By Meegan Leave a Comment

I was shopping last night for a church luncheon. We are having salad, so I thought I would buy some croutons. Yowza-$3.50 for a tiny bag of bread crumbs. No way! So I came home and made Homemade Italian Garlic Croutons . Easy, in-expensive, and the best croutons you will ever eat! Really.

Learn how to make Homemade Italian Garlic Croutons to add to your own home cooking.

Don’t these Homemade Italian Garlic Croutons look so yummy, crunchy, crispy and ready for a fresh salad?

Homemade Italian Garlic Croutons

I bought 2 loaves of French bread.  $1.49 each.

Using a sharp bread knife, I cut the loaves up into 1 inch cubes.

The bread cubes are now covered with olive oil, butter, and spices.

This is what they look like right out of the oven.  Nummers!!

Heat oven to 425*

1 loaf French bread cut into 1 inch cubes

1/2 cup olive oil

1/4 melted butter

1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp garlic powder

1/8 tsp salt

1 pinch black pepper

Mix all ingredients well.  Pour oil mixture evenly over bread cubes.  Toss gently until all the mixture is soaked up by the bread, allowing each cube to soak up some oil mixture.

Bake for 30 minutes.  Tossing your croutons about every 7 minutes, so the edges and corners don’t burn.

Your croutons will taste more fresh and better than any you could purchase.  They are light and crispy.  Perfect for any soup, salad, or even a snack!  Just ask Hubby-I can’t keep him out of them!

Thanks for joining me today.  It’s is always a joy to have you here.

Make it a super Saturday…
