How To Make a Rustic Ladder Chandelier

February 16, 2015 By Meegan 14 Comments

Happy Monday! It’s a beautiful day here in Las Vegas.  I know so many of you are still freezing on the East coast today.  So, I thought it would be fun to create a simple way to add ambiance and composition to our home with a lesson on How To Make a Rustic Ladder Chandelier.

How To Make a Rustic Ladder Chandelier

If you remember, I hung my vintage ladder in time for Christmas decorating.

Ladder

How To Make a Rustic Ladder Chandelier is easier than you think.

I have been collecting crystals for awhile now.  I have found them at craft stores, thrift stores and Habitat for Humanity.  Some are vintage REAL crystals, and others are Christmas ornaments and such.  Anything that looks like a crystal, I gravitate to.

Crystals

I enjoyed hanging my grandma’s handmade sequin ornaments on the vintage ladder, but I wanted something a little different for all year long.

I thought of the movie, Pollyanna.  Have you ever seen it?  It is a Disney movie from 1960 with Haley Mills.  She is a happy orphan who sees good in everything.  Pollyanna is fascinated with crystals and their reflection.  I have liked crystals ever since I had since the movie.

I wanted something that would catch the afternoon light in our living room window.

Hanging crystals on my vintage ladder was just what I pictured to get the effect of composition and ambiance.

Ladders, Crystals and Lights

And the simple, tiny look of the fairy lights, get me every time. (LURVE them) They are bright, and don’t overpower the space.  The lights actually add to the look I was hoping to create.

How To Make a Rustic Ladder Chandelier was easy and the fun part is that I can leave it up all year long…

My hope is that you have been inspired to create composition and ambiance in your home or space with Ladders, Crystals and Lights.  Wouldn’t this even look fabulous in an office or bedroom?

Now that you know How To Make a Rustic Ladder Chandelier, do you think you will make one any time soon? Have fun and let me know if you do. I would love to hear all about it.

Make it a wonderful Monday.

I love this! So cute Meegan! I remember that scene from Pollyanna (one of my fave early Disney movies), and I’ve been attracted to crystals ever since too. This is a clever idea to put them above your window like that to catch the light.
