Getting Creative at Home Blog Tour and It’s My Turn!

Oh my goodness! It’s the Getting Creative at Home Tour and It’s My Turn! Wow! I have seen so many amazingly talented people over the past few days! It is so much fun! Have you been joining in on the fun along with us? What has been your fave so far??

The Getting Creative at Home Blog Tour came about because there were several of us bloggers that missed out on attending a Blog Conference called “Haven”. My new friend Julie got us together, since we could not attend Haven, we would have our own blog conference and invite YOU to come along!

Getting Creative at Home and it’s my turn begins right now!!

I like to:

Refresh Thrifted, vintage, or set up new vignettes in our home.

I am also a huge fan of:

of crafting. I have been crafting my whole life. Whether it’s painting, gluing or sewing-I love it!

I have also been known to cook and bake up a storm in my kitchen:

I love to share my recipes often with my readers.

A few other things you might want to know about me are:

I have a fetish for empty frames. I have them everywhere. I really like the idea of the openness and the fact that I can hang anything on them with a simple painted clothes pin.

My coffee table was $10 at the thrift store. She is one of my faves. The tray was a thrift find for $3!! I know! I was SO excited!!

My kitchen shelves are always filled with thrift finds and/or shells because of my love of the ocean.

I found this shutter for 5 bucks and made her look old. Not too shabby, huh?

I love using book pages to decorate. Actually, you might say I have an obsession. (PS-the frame was brand new at the thrift store for $7!!-SCORE!)

One of my fave projects has been these moss covered vases, candle holders and candle.

I had so much fun painting these beauties!

My Fleur Box Succulent Makeover

I am so excited to be here today! I am also happy to show you my fleur box succulent makeover. Whew-this has been a long time coming. I have pondered about this box a lot and finally came up with a solution. I hope you like it and are inspired to makeover a fleur box or basket you might have.

This is what I started out with. A box full of sticks, pots, shells, moss balls, a bird’s nest, etc.. Junk, really. It was all there but with no composition, rhyme, or reason.

I was a HL today and spotted these lovelies. I know, I am not a fan of fake flowers-at all. Ask the brides I help. Ugh! BUT, succulents almost look fake at times, don’t they? Well, these fake succulents look real enough to me to use them in my fleur box. Woo!

So I pulled my new components together. Succulents, moss balls, shredded paper, and a grapevine ball I found for a $1 while thrifting. Yes! I was ready to start.

I used the shredded paper as my “dirt” or foundation. This is a good start.

I began placing my moss balls, and succulents in their new home. Don’t they look happy?

The shredded paper is the perfect background for the green moss and the succulents. The grapevine ball even shows up better. I am loving this new look for my fleur box succulent makeover.

I also painted the front of the fleur box blue to have a fresh look to go with the fleurs box succulent makeover.

Wow! What a difference! Once what was a drab box is now full of color and appeal. I am loving this new look for my fleur box succulent makeover.

10 Charming Chair Makeovers

I have had so much fun looking at chair makeovers recently. I am loving all of the colors, textures and creativity! It all inspires me and gets my creative juices flowing. I just love these 10 charming chair makeovers. I am sure you will, too.

One trend I noticed was yellow. Lots and lots of yellow out there. Not to mention the ever popular shades of blue.

Chairs are an easy makeover, whether it’s for the living room, dining room, or garden. They are fun to work with and let your creativity fly! You can just paint the legs, paint the fabric, or use paint on the whole chair even if it is fabric! You could recover with a bold print, make a slipcover, add a pillow or throw for an accent piece.

Bathroom Tray Beach Stripe Makeover

Hello! Remember when I told you about trying to bringing a more masculine feel without losing my taste? That’s what I did with this bathroom tray beach stripe makeover.

I do want to make it clear this has not been Hubby’s idea at all. It is all from me. Hubby loves when he comes home from work and there is something changed or moved around. He NEVER complains. This new look is all my idea.

Let’s get to it…

My cute friend, Lynn saw this tray and thought of me. Naturally, because it’s blue. It is perfect size for our master bathroom counter. But I am changing the colors and style a little in there.

So I got out some paint and got to work.

Using a flat white paint, I dry brushed the whole tray. I liked that the blue is peeking through. It looks like more layers of paint, and aged.

Over that I painted various sizes of stripes with Valspar Antique Coral. (I chose a coral color, because Hubby loves orange. This helps bring his taste into our home.) Again, I used a dry brush with little paint. This gives a worn look. Just what I was hoping for.

I decided to even paint a narrow stripe around the side. Each stripe was painted freehanded.

My “new” tray looks great holding our q-tips and cotton in woven baskets (with blue stripes), along with my air plant terrarium made by my friend, Sherry.

I had so much fun with this Bathroom Tray Beach Stripe Makeover. Bringing a new look and style just takes a little imagination and sometimes a little paint.
