August 8, 2013 By Meegan 34 Comments

Oh my goodness!  It’s the Getting Creative at Home Tour and It’s My Turn!  Wow!  I have seen so many amazingly talented people over the past few days!  It is so much fun!  Have you been joining in on the fun along with us?  What has been your fave so far??

getting creative at home

The Getting Creative at Home Blog Tour came about because there were several of us bloggers that missed out on attending a Blog Conference called “Haven”.  My new friend Julie got us together, since we could not attend Haven, we would have our own blog conference and invite YOU to come along!

Getting Creative at Home and it’s my turn begins right now!!

I like to:

Refresh Thrifted, vintage, or set up new vignettes in our home.

I am also a huge fan of:

of crafting.  I have been crafting my whole life.  Whether it’s painting, gluing or sewing-I love it!

I have also been known to cook and bake up a storm in my kitchen:

I love to share my recipes often with my readers.

A few other things you might want to know about me are:

I have a fetish for empty frames.  I have them everywhere.  I really like the idea of the openness and the fact that I can hang anything on them with a simple painted clothes pin.

My coffee table was $10 at the thrift store.  She is one of my faves.  The tray was a thrift find for $3!!  I know!  I was SO excited!!

My kitchen shelves are always filled with thrift finds and/or shells because of my love of the ocean.

I found this shutter for 5 bucks and made her look old.  Not too shabby, huh?

I love using book pages to decorate.  Actually, you might say I have an obsession. (PS-the frame was brand new at the thrift store for $7!!-SCORE!)

One of my fave projects has been these moss covered vases, candle holders and candle.

I had so much fun painting these beauties!

Wow – you are one multi-talented girl! Visiting from the tour and will be following! Such great projects – it’s hard to choose a favorite- I do love empty frames too- I went to an exhibit at MOMA (or the met-) I forget- years ago – just on frames and the gallery was filled with empty frames- lol

Cute projects Meegan! Love the collage boards showing them off.

ps your ‘new’ coffee table is the same as one my Mom & Dad had when I was a teenager… LOL! didn’t look half as good then as it does with your makeover!

A girl after my own heart! Obviously, I love to bargain hunt, so I love your bargains and the way you’ve spruced them up and/or reused them. Your moss-covered vase and candles are so pretty. I am drooling over your beautiful bottle collection and that wonderful box on your kitchen shelves, and that frame with the dried flowers hanging from wire is just so sweet. It’s apparent that you are a very busy girl with some great ideas. I’m so glad to get to see all of these clever ideas. I’m glad you are on the blog tour. laurie

Thanks so much Laurie! The bottles were all thrifted, except 1. And the box was actually my grandpa’s. We used the croquet set all when I was growing up! Crazy, huh? I am so happy to have you here! The blog tour has been a blast!

Wowser’s lady….you are a good thrifter….great finds make great projects!! Love your coffee table redo. I too have an obession with frames. Prolly have 30 sitting at home now. Have you noticed tho at the thrift stores they tend to be on the expensive side if they have any detail to them at all. I often wonder who prices the items at thrift stores….they seem to be getting higher and higher these days. Makes it harder to be excited about a great find when it’s not far from a target price. Have you found that at all in your area? Anywho….glad to be on this tour with you and happy trails. See ya round!!!

Thanx so much Kelly. You are way too kind! I have noticed some rices going up within the last couple of months. I just wait for the right price at the right time. I am never in a hurry-that takes all the fun out of it for me :) Have a great day!
