Coffee Filter and Book Page Garland

June 4, 2013 By Meegan 1 Comment

If you haven’t been able to tell already, I like garlands.  Mostly paper garlands because as you know I have an obsession with book pages.  I thought you would like a little detail on how I made this coffee filter and book page garland.  It hangs over our bed.

My friend, Dawn saw it the other day and said it reminds her of shells and starfish.  I love that idea!!

Coffee Filter and Book Page GarlandI made the twine long enough so I could hang it anywhere.

Coffee Filter and Book Page GarlandHere is a close up of what my coffee filter and book page garland looks like.

Coffee Filter and Book Page GarlandI started out by making my book pages just as I did with my Book Page Garland.  Super easy.  And cute anywhere!

Coffee Filter and Book Page GarlandI shared How to Dye Coffee Filters with Food Coloring.  Once my coffee filters were dry, I began to string my book pages and coffee filters together.  Alternating filters and pages.  In the end, I came out with this:

Coffee Filter and Book Page GarlandOf course, you could hang this anywhere.  It would look beautiful on a cake table at a birthday party, for a bridal shower, in a bathroom, or even above your bed!!

I hope you will try making a coffee filter and book page garland soon and let me know how your’s came out.

Thanks for joining me today!  It is always a pleasure to have you here!

Mothers Day Book Page Garland

May 6, 2013 By Meegan 5 Comments

Hello Hello!!  I am excited today to share a tutorial for a Mothers Day Book Page Garland.  It’s super easy and perfect for a Mother’s Day decor!!

Mothers Day Book Page Garland

So, here we go!!

Elements needed:

Chipboard cards

Paint

Stencils

Twine

Fan Folded Book Pages

Hole Punch

I found these fabric covered chipboard cards at Michaels (4 in a package).  The package was labeled “Journal”, but I thought I could use them for a garland incorporating  it with my book page garland.

Using stencils I decided to spell out “Mom”.

I used craft paint along with my stencils.  Pink was just the right color!!  Love it.

Doesn’t it look great so far??

Using the same technique as I did with my book page garland, I had a Mother’s Day Garland in no time at all.

My DIY Book Page Magnetic Board

April 9, 2013 By Meegan Leave a Comment

DIY Book Page Magnetic Board??  Really??  We all know I am obsessed with book pages, right??  If, you didn’t know, you will soon find out.

I can not resist a book page idea or craft.  I have been looking at my magnetic board wondering how I could change it up.  It’s nice and all, but I wanted something a little more to fit with my other decor.

Then it hit me!!  Use book pages!!

My DIY Book Page Magnetic Board

Here is my lovely magnetic board before.  She has been natural, red, gray, and now hint of olive green.

My DIY Book Page Magnetic Board

I thought about using mod podge on her.  But my book pages are 40 yrs old and very thin.  I was worried about them tearing and wrinkling up.  AND, I didn’t know how well the magnets would work through the mod podge.

So I used the next best thing!!

My DIY Book Page Magnetic BoardPacking tape!!  I used small, rolled pieces of tape to adhere the back of the book pages to the magnetic board.

Using an old dictionary that I used here and here; I placed my pages staggered, so they wouldn’t look “perfectly” lined up.

I also liked using different sections from the dictionary.  So the whole board would have variety.

My DIY Book Page Magnetic BoardNot too shabby, huh??  The pages are thin enough that my magnets will still hold cards, pictures and wedding announcements.  I am really pleased with how it looks.  Book pages always make me happy and a little obsessed!!

Thanks for stopping by and following me!!  I love having you here with me along the way.
