Rock Your Knockoff Tour

What a beautiful first day of Spring!! Welcome to the Rock Your Knockoff Tour! It’s been a fabulous week with some incredible knockoffs from some of my favorite bloggers and friends.

Today it’s my turn to Rock MY Knockoff with you!!

While I was in Oregon this past week, my daughter and I shopped and shopped for what she wanted in her living room. After finding THE exact fabric she was looking for, we were set.

She wanted bold black and white striped pillows. Pottery Barn’s pricing is $39.50-$49.50 per pillow. Hmmm… Not bad, if you can’t make it yourself, I guess.

She found the black striped fabric at IKEA for $7.99 a yard. We were able to make 2 pillows for that price. Amazing! (The gold polka dot fabric was made into bedroom pillows. But, that is for another post)

Using pillow filling from older pillows, the cost was LITERALLY $7.99 for 2 pillows.

And what a beautiful contrast against the white sofa and blue pillow. I really love the drama of the black and white, don’t you?

The PB knock-off pillows anchor the room perfectly with the bold black and white stripes. They each add to the other black accents in her home. What a fun project for us to make together, too.

There you have it!! An inexpensive way to get the PB look without the cost. Yep, $7.99 for 2 pillows compaired to up to $49.50 for 1!!!

Pajamas and Pillows

Happy Friday!! I am thrilled to be with you here today! There is always something going on around here, and I am sure the same it for you, too. Life keeps us busy, doesn’t it? I took some time out this week to make some pajamas and pillows. It was nice to sew again. I really enjoy my Mother’s Day present from my Hubby.

Anyway…As you can see I like pillows. They make me feel at home, and cozy. How about you??

I made this pillow when I first starting changing our home from deep reds and golds to lighter whites and blues. I still don’t even know why I chose this fabric. Sometimes I just have brain freezes like that.

Easy One Piece Ottoman Slip Cover

Hello Hello! I am home from Oregon and can’t wait to share all of my travels with you. But, first, I want to show you this EASY one piece ottoman slip cover.

I have wanted a slip cover for this ottoman for years. Yes, years. Now that Hubby bought me a sewing machine for Mother’s Day, I have been sewing up a storm. Woo! This is my first project with my new machine. She came out pretty good, I would say…

Here is my 15 year old ottoman. She has been used as a game table, baby bed, and of course a foot rest.

After looking for fabric, I found this one with the greens and little bits of blue that I like. I bought 2 and a half yards of 54 wide.

This is how I knew how much fabric to purchase: I measured the width and length of my ottoman as well as the height. I also measured it from side to side. IE; up the side, across the top, and back down each side. I did this both length and width.

I laid the fabric right side down on the ottoman. Finding the corners of the ottoman, I pinned and marked where I wanted my seams. I left a little room, so I could easily slip it over when I was finished sewing.

Following my pins, I sewed a seam, and cut off the excess fabric.

I ironed open the seams.

For a hem, I folded up the edge 2 times to make a smooth hemline.

Here she is now. Huge difference, wouldn’t you say? She makes me smile every time I look at her! I had enough fabric leftover, so I made a small pillow, too.
