How To Host an Afternoon Tea Party

March 3, 2016 By Meegan 9 Comments

I am excited to tell you about my tea party on Saturday. Hosting a tea party could be overwhelming, but…

I have some great Afternoon Tea Party Ideas just for you.

How To Host An Afternoon Tea Party by meeganmakes.com

Tea Party

I served Lipton Tea with the option of honey, lemon, sugar or cream to add to the tea.

I had varieties of Lipton tea for them from which to choose. Everything from Lipton’s new Green Tea varieties that have a fresh light taste and clearer color; Black Tea with bold aroma and unique tastes, to the best Herbal Teas that awaken the senses.
Take your time with details. Make sure your guests feel welcome and thought about. Each of my guests had a teaspoon and dessert fork resting on their tea cups. They were also tied with a ribbon and a name tag. My guests LOVED this.

Tea Party Ideas

Make time to bake homemade treats.  Such as a naked cake, orange cupcakes or tea cakes.

Decorate with homemade banners or twinkle lights. AND you can never go wrong with a chandelier, can you?

Display your tea party food at various levels for eye appeal.

Tea Party Food

Serve a variety of finger sandwiches. I made egg salad, chicken salad, and cucumber/dill sandwiches. Each flavor of sandwich was cut in the coordinating shape. IE; egg salad-hearts, cucumber/dill-diamond with a dill sprig on top, chicken salad-rectangle.

Give your guests a choice of both fresh fruits and veggies, they are bound to like one or the other.

Make homemade scones and Devonshire cream. This is a traditional English tea must-have, and a perfect treat for any Afternoon Tea Party Ideas.

Invite your friends to wear hats and gloves to your tea party. They may be hesitant at first, but will have a great time getting into the spirit of the event.

Cherry Blossoms in Vintage Mason Jars

Have lots of fresh flowers in your “tea room”. Whether they are from your own yard or bought at the florist. Flowers add a sense of relaxation and add to the atmosphere.

Have a thank you note and a special gift for each guest. I wrapped a tulip bulb in brown paper sacks. I tied them with jute as a “thank you” for my guests.

Tea Party with Lipton Tea Varieties

For my last tip…When your guests have left; sit back, enjoy all of your hard work and have another cup of Lipton Tea. There is even a coupon to receive $.75 off of your next box of 1 Lipton Black, Green, or Herbal 20 ct tea. Perfect, right?
