Blue and White Summer Shelves

June 12, 2015 By Meegan 12 Comments

Well good morning on this lovely Summer day! The temps are up and the humidity is high. BUT is is a lovely day, nonetheless, isn’t it?  If you have been following me for awhile, you know how much I love my open shelving in our kitchen. I like to decorate them for each season. This time of year I decided to create Blue and White Summer Shelves.

Blue and white together always remind me of Summer, living in a cottage, and carefree days.

Summer Shelves

VintageBlue Mason Jars

Maybe because the blue reminds me of one of my favorite places-the ocean.  White is crisp and fresh, just like a Summer breeze.

Blue and Green Dinnerware

I guess that is why most of our home decor is blue, green or white.

It makes me feel like I live by the ocean. In a cottage. I am not crazy. I just try to make the best of living in a condo in Las Vegas.

Another thing you may know about me is that I try to use what I already have. Such is the case of my Blue and White Summer Shelves.

Blue Mason Jar Shelf

Everything on the Blue and White Summer Shelves is either a gift or a bargain find. OR painted.

White Ceramic Bowls with Honeycomb Plates

Probably my favorite portion of the shelves is right here. I found these beautiful bowls at TJ Maxx about 3 years ago. Unfortunately there were only two. BOO! BUT, at least there were two, right?

We use them as our everyday ware, but don’t they look attractive on a shelf along side the blue mason jars, too?

Summer Shelf Idea

Decorating my Blue and White Summer Shelves for a Summer vibe is easy using colors like blue, green and white.

The aqua canning jar that has the fancy embossing on top shelf is an Avon jar. They came with darling peach soaps in them and are somewhere around 35 years old! I have two slightly different in size, from when I was first married. Have kept them through 3 homes mixed with my old cottage antiques and always loved them! Do you know how you found yours?
