DIY Boho No Sew Drop Cloth Table Runner

August 26, 2020 By Meegan Leave a Comment

When I found a skein of yarn on sale at Target, the creative juices started flowing.  With a little creativity I designed a DIY Boho No Sew Drop Cloth Table Runner. I think you are going to like it as much as I do.

I love the colors and ragged edges for a rustic Boho style.

Let me show you how to design your own…

What you will need:

3 yards x 15 inches of drop cloth, ripped and frayed to have a rustic look. (I bought my drop cloth at Home Depot.)

**Some strings will end up longer than others. You can cut or trim them to your liking. In the pictures below, you can see than I have various lengths of frayed edges all around the runner. Do what YOU like. That’s part of being creative!

36 yards of yarn (your choice of color)

hot glue gun

hot glue

scissors

measuring tape

That’s it!

Measure out 18-24 inch lengths of yarn for the braids.

Divide the 18 inch strands into “3s” as pictured above. Braid those together, leaving 3 inches on each end for a slip knot as shown in the picture below.

The ends will look like tiny tassels. Super cute, right?

The next step to making  this table runner is to attach the braids to both SHORT ends of the drop cloth with hot glue.

I used small beads of the hot glue along the edge of the drop cloth, attaching just a few inches at a time. This allows the hot glue to stay hot while pressing the braid down. Be careful not to burn your fingers!

To make the larger tassels, use the tutorial in this blog post here, for easy instructions.

Attach the large tassel to the braid by tying a square knot. This will keep the tassel secure and from slipping or falling off.

Your DIY Boho No Sew Drop Cloth Table Runner is ready for displaying and decorating any table. Whether it’s a casual meal, seasonal decorating or just for fun, your table will be looking fresh and trendy.

So you can see both ends with the braids and tassels, I have folded the table runner in the picture above. Hopefully this helps you have a better vision of what the table runner will look like when finished. Those rustic, torn edges get me every time. I like the clean look of the braids and the whimsy style of the tassels, as well.

Between making the braids and tassels, this table runner took me between 40-60 minutes to make. It was relaxing while watch my favorite HGTV show.

Now I have a new Boho look for my table, meals and guests.

I hope you will try making your own DIY Boho No Sew Drop Cloth Table Runner. I really want to see your Boho table runner projects. So tag me on Instagram with #whatmeeganmakesfeature and I will share your projects in my Instagram stories. Sounds fun, right?!

What color of yarn do you think YOU will choose when making this project?
