Happy Thursday! I am excited to be here with you. I have a few Ideas for Decorating with Sand and Shells, today. I hope you can incorporate them into your home decor.
I told you a few weeks ago how much I like collecting shells. While my son, his wife and their baby were in Bermuda last month, they brought me back some amazing shells and sand. The bottle of sand was found while my son was scuba diving. How cool is that???
I like various shells, their colors and shapes. They each seem to have their own personality, don’t they???
I have many shells of this type, but never one this big. Can you believe the spikes on the bottom one? Crazy.
Bermuda is known for it’s pink sand. I love all the flecks of pink in the bottle.
And then the tiny little shells inside are a perfect touch.
I have made my own DIY shell art and used cosmetic jars to fill with shells, as well.
I like having shells out all year long. It doesn’t have to be Summer. I like them even in the Winter.
When Nate Berkus had his daytime show a few years back, he said shells add a sense of sophistication to your home and decor. Hmmm…I guess I am on the right track. (Big smile)
I keep shells and sand in various jars and containers. The bottom jar had bath salts in it. It was too cute to get rid of, so I added some California sand and a few shells. Voila!
Sometimes I add a tag to label them where I found my shells and/or sand.
Here my new shells from Bermuda look perfect along side my rustic twig sphere.
The jar on the left was filled by my grandma. I have kept it just how she had it. The jar on the right is filled with sand and shells from the island of Moorea, an island in the Tahitian Islands.
Various coral look ideal on a stack of books, flanked with a candlestick.
Small tea light holders can be filled with sand and shells as well. If I ever see a piece of sea glass, I can’t resist keeping that, too. As you see in the jar on the right.
Not only do I use sand and shells, but I also keep rocks. I know! That might sound weird. But, I do like the colors, shapes and designs that each rock has. My children knew this when they were growing up and would find rocks and give them to me.
As you can see, these rocks along with my vintage green bottle look great on a pedestal. Who would have thought, right?
Fill your jars, vases, bottles, anything you like with some sand, shells and/or rocks. Stack them, layer them. It can make your home an inviting place to be.
Sometimes I like to place a tealight candle on a tiny jar of sand. So romantic, don’t you think???
Start collecting your own shells and sand, or you can even purchase them online for your home decor. You can find any shape size and color to fit your home.
Ideas for Decorating with Sand and Shells can be as fun and creative as YOU make it. I have shared a few with you today. What ideas can YOU come up with?
Thanks for joining me today!
Make it a fabulous Thursday…

I just filled an apothecary jar with sand and seashells last week for my summer mantle display but it just didn’t feel complete. After seeing this post I see what I need to do to make it work…more shells! Love how you stylized your coastal theme Meegan and thanks for the inspiration!

Love your collection of shells. We have started collecting shells and sand from each beach we go to and it is such a great way to keep holiday memories. I would love some of the pink sand for our collection!

All your displays are so pretty! We try to gather a sample of sand from every beach we go to. We put them in small jars, write on the side where they came from, and display them to remind us of our trips. It’s so cool how each one has a different look to it.
Now following you.
