Things are getting back to normal around our house. I am doing laundry, sewing, and cooking for Hubby since I was gone for so long. Now I am back and ready to show you Birds and Birdhouses, My Collection (Maybe an Obsession)
I have always liked birds. Birds and Birdhouses in Home Decor. Wow. While I was thinking about writing this post, I realized just how many birds and birdhouses I have.
Our living room book shelves actually have several hints of birds and bird houses.
We also have a few bird feathers from beach trips in some sand. Great memories.
I LOVE my birdies. There are 21 to be exact. And I like that because we have 21 grandkiddos. Perfect, huh? I like how each bird has it’s own unique look, just like the grandkiddos.
I like birds so much, I make my own bird’s nest from book pages.
My sweet green birdie is one of the first bird purchases I made. I love the various colors on his body.
You may have seen me use my hummingbird nests before. They are sentimental to me, because they were from my mother-in-law. She passed away from cancer 5 1/2 years ago. I will be sharing her hummingbird experience later this month as I celebrate Cancer Awareness.
My large white bird was brown, but somehow it was painted white (hehehe) Doesn’t it blend well with the hummingbird nests?
Another ceramic white bird has perched on top of my favorite candlestick.
In our guest bathroom you will find a colorful pink bird to coordinate with my grandma’s hand made wall decor.
This cutie patutie has found a home right near my vintage bird cage.
I have to tell you a story about this birdcage. I have a 3 year old grand daughter that lives close by. She LOVES the birdcage and the ceramic bird. She worries that the bird is out of his cage, so she will often place inside. I LOVE that.
One day while visiting she asked, “How old is the bird cage?” I said, “About 100 years old.” Her reply was, “OH, as old as you!” Is that too funny, or what?? I have laughed about that for a long time.
The lights on my birdhouse are always lit up when we have visitors.
I have been known to make coordinating bird houses for our Christmas tree.
Lastly, my stenciled birdies reside in my laundry closet, so I can see them everyday.
So you see Birds and Birdhouses, My Collection (Maybe an Obsession) is a fun and creative way to add variety to home decor. You don’t need to have a cottage, farmhouse, or even a traditional home to add birds and birdhouses. They can work anywhere or any space.
Do YOU have birds as decor in your home?
Thanks for stopping by and making my blog a part of your day.
Make it a terrific day!

I remember visiting my grandma’s house when I was little and seeing all of the birdhouses that she used to decorate. When she sold the house, she passed a few on to my family. I’d like to add to our collection with a few more to replicate her decorating style that I loved! I love that birdhouse that you lit up; it looks great. I’ll have to look around and find some nice decorative ones. Thanks!
