DIY Book Page Bird Nest

April 17, 2014 By Meegan 7 Comments

Isn’t it a beautiful Spring day?  I am in California helping my mom recover from a hip replacement surgery.  She is slowly recovering, but doing really well.  I am enjoying the green hills and the birds singing while I am here.  And, of course the quality time I am having with my mom. I am also excited to spend Easter with some of our sweet grand kiddos.

If you know me, you know I like vintage and book pages, right?  Well, I have the ideal book page bird nest for your Easter table or for anytime of year.  This is MY version of a DIY Book Page Bird Nest. DIY Book Page Bird Nest #whatmeeganmakes

Isn’t it sweet?

Let me share with you how I made my book page bird nest.

Using a few vintage book pages and my shredder scissors, I had the beginning of a bird nest.

My next step was to wrap a bowl with plastic wrap.  I wrapped my bowl loosely, but you could do it tighter if you like.

You can also make various sizes if you choose.

I loosely lined my bowl with the book page strips.

I had a mixture of half Elmer’s glue and half water ready to apply to my book page strips.

Using a sponge brush, I lightly moistened the book page strips.  Until almost the whole “nest” was wet.

I set my bowl outside to dry in the warm sun.

It did not take long before it was almost dry.  I carefully peeled the bird nest away from the plastic wrap.

I am very pleased with my DIY Book Page Bird Nest.  They are ideal for any Easter table setting, or just to have as décor in your home anytime of year.

I KNOW I will be making more book page bird nests in the very near future.  How about you?

You could make a variety of sizes, shapes and even colors.

Thanks for joining me today while I shared a small thing that makes me smile.

Make it a terrific day!

Adorable Meegan! I’ve made these with shredded paper sacks before but I like the book pages much better :)

Oh I hope your mom is feeling a little better. My dad is recovering from knee replacement surgery at the moment!

I love your nest idea-it’s perfect for Easter. If you have a minute to spare I’d be thrilled if you could pop by and share your project at my Say G’Day Saturday link up. It would be so lovely if you could join in!

Best wishes and have a great weekend.
