Spring Home Decor Ideas

April 1, 2016 By Meegan 9 Comments

Happy April First everyone! It is wonderful to be with you on this wonderful Spring day. It is a perfect time for me to share some of MY own Spring Home Decor Ideas.

Spring Blog Hop

Today my friends and I have met together to share our Spring home decor with you. So be sure to read till the end to see their creative minds at work.

Spring Home Tour from meeganmakes.com

A few weeks ago I showed my you my vintage styled shelves with Spring colors.

Spring Styled Shelves

The glassware is from my husband’s grandma. She purchased it in the 1920s and the colors are still vivid and perfect for a touch of Spring time in our home.

If you have been following me for any length of time, you KNOW how much I like shells. This starfish found it’s way into our living room already. (Summer happens to be my favorite time of year. So this is just a small way of getting a sneak peek of Summer months ahead.)

Spring Decorating with Starfish

My hubby saw this colorful humming bird pillow and bought it for me to add to my pillow collection, because you can never have enough pillows, right?

Not only is the pillow colorful, but the humming bird has special meaning to our family. When my mother-in-law had cancer there was a humming bird that built a nest on her deck. My mother-in-law was very sick from radiation and chemo for weeks. The humming bird (which she named Flo) kept her spirits up and was one of the only things she looked forward to on a daily basis. Flo was very protective of her eggs and once they hatched she would get very upset if anyone tried to look at them. EXCEPT when my mother-in-law did.

Flo came back to build a nest the following year-which is highly unusual for humming birds. My mother-in-law had the same joy and fulfillment as she did the first time watching Flo. She was just as sick as she was the year before.

The third year my sweet mother-in-law passed away and Flo never returned. So you can now realize the meaning of the humming bird pillow. It will be in our home for a very long time.

A few months ago as we were walking back from our pool I spotted this perfect nest. As you can see, it is now part of my Spring decor.

Blue Demi-Johns For Spring Decorating

Using blue and green vintage bottles is another way I like to decorate for Spring.

Filled with boxwood cuttings makes them even that much better, don’t you think?

I have enjoyed collecting silver over the past year. All of my pieces are thrift store finds.

Spring Flowers

I thought it would be fun to use my Grandma’s vintage crystal salt and pepper shakers as vases. Setting them on my thrifted silver tray makes for an exquisite Spring vignette.

Daisy Mums for Spring Decoring

I really like to make vintage book page crafts. My bird nest is one of my faves, by far. I may or may not have it out all year long…

AND did you happen to notice it is resting in a vintage tart tin?

With touches of blue, and vintage silver pieces I can also create a Spring feel in our home.

Botanical fabric is a great way to add a Spring feel, as well. Not to mention a galvanized olive bucket or watering can, too.

Oh, and the crocheted lace? It was made by my sweet grandma.
