Stenciled, Refreshed Rug

I have had rugs on my mind. I would like 2 new ones for the kitchen, one for the side of my bed, and a new one for the TV room. I look, and look, and look, and look everywhere! I look for deals, I look for colors, and I look for makeovers ideas. I look around even when I don’t need a rug. So, I decided to make my own Stenciled, Refreshed Rug.

I painted one wall of our TV ROOM “A Hint of Olive” by Ace Hardware. I LOVE how it turned out.

I have a green rug that is OK. It worked well for awhile, but now it is just OK for me. This became my pallet:

These became my tools. A regular old paint brush, a stencil and paint:

Yes, I used interior satin paint! I went to Wal-mart and had them color match “Summer Sonnet” by Ace Hardware. Now I could get started…

I first painted along the lines that were already on the rug. Easy!! Then, on a piece of paper I drew out a pattern where I wanted each stencil to be placed. Isn’t she lovely?

With my regular paint brush I dabbed the paint through the stencil. Seriously SO easy!

Isn’t she just lovely?

She adds pizazz to our freshly painted room, doesn’t she???

Now I have a “NEW” rug!! I can’t believe how nicely she turned out. Happy me! Happy new rug! Yay

FYI-Since I have refreshed and painted the rug, I have already vacuumed it, and tried using a wet sponge over the paint, in case I ever need to clean up an oily food spot. The paint remained in tact! The painted areas are a tiny bit stiff, but not unbearable or uncomfortable with bare feet.
