Homemade Oatmeal Bars From Scratch

January 30, 2020 By Meegan Leave a Comment

Do you have one of those “go to” recipes that you have used for years and years? These Homemade Oatmeal Bars From Scratch are a recipe like that for me.

With a large family like ours, these always come in handy. They are a family fave and so fun to make various versions for all likes and dislikes.

Whether I need a quick treat or breakfast, this recipe comes in handy for anytime of day or event. It’s a great way to warm up your house on a cool day, with the oven warm and toasty, too.

There are not any eggs (This is great for those who are sensitive to eggs) and it’s quick to mix up and bake. You probably have all the ingredients in your pantry right now.

Homemade Oatmeal Bars From Scratch

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup raw oats

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp soda

1/4 tsp salt

3/4 cup melted butter

Directions:

Mix together with a fork until everything in covered and incorporated with the butter

Add in chocolate chips, chopped nuts, dried cranberries or raisins. Fold in until everything is well combined

Press into 9 inch square pan or pie dish.

Bake at 350* for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.

I like to bake mine in a pie dish or cast iron skillet then serve them as triangle shapes, just for something a little different. But squares are just as nice.

Serve with a nice cold glass of milk for an afternoon snack or dessert. My kids like to put them in a bowl and pour the milk over them for breakfast. They are the perfect sweetness. Not too sweet.

What I am saying is that you have got to try my Homemade Oatmeal Bars From Scratch. They will fast become a “go to” recipe for you, too. Enjoy! This post has been updated in October 2025.
