Have you ever eaten Bread and Butter Pickled Onions? If not, and you like onions, you are definitely missing out.

They give a little crunch, tang, and a sweet onion flavor to top on LOTS of recipes, salads, sandwiches, tacos, fajitas or pizza.

Did I mention there isn’t ANY cooking?

With this simple method, you can make them in no time. AND they taste SO delicious!

How to Make Bread and Butter Pickled Onions

What you will need:

1-empty half pint jar-clean, inside and out

1-lid to fit the jar, tight

1-sharp slicing knife

1 quart bread and butter pickles (I chose Trader Joe’s brand, but there are plenty of brands to choose from.)

1 medium red onion-sliced

*As you will see, I just used a well cleaned and sanitized used jelly jar.

Gather your components. Setting aside a HALF a CUP of bread and butter pickle juice.

I LOVE red onion. But you are more than welcome to use whatever type of onion YOU like.

Cut the onion into thin slices. As many as will fill your half pint jar.

Place your sliced onions into the jar. Packing as full as you can.

Pour your reserved half cup pickle juice over your onions. Leaving 1/2 inch head space below the jar rim.

By using the juice from the bread and butter pickles, it has saved you SO much time.

NO cooking, no shopping for ingredients and no tedious measuring for the right flavor balance. The pickle maker has already done that for you. SO easy!

Clean the jar rim with a clean cloth and hot water.

Top your jar with the compatible lid. Screw on tightly.

Place in your refrigerator.

Within a few hours your bread and butter pickled onions will be soaking up and marinating. I really like how the juice turns pink/purple. They are now ready to use on your favorite food.

Like I mentioned above-there are many, many ways to use these incredibly unique, tasty, tart, sweet and crunchy bread and butter pickled onions.

Our favorite ways to use them are on top of fajitas, on a salad and in an egg salad sandwich. My mouth is watering just thinking about it…

What do you think? Will you bee making jars of this recipe for your family and friends? Awesome gifts, too! How will you use YOUR easy to make bread and butter pickled onions?
