Today, I wanted to show you how you can have a simple Mother’s Day Tea for the Moms in your life. You don’t have to go to a lot of work or preparation. Make it simple and enjoy the time with your Mom-because, really that is what it is all about, right?
To start off with, I found a few teacups and saucers at the thrift store. They fit the occasion just right.
The teapot was my Grandma’s. Yes, it is Fiestaware. The small saucers were made by her to hold your tea bags. How sweet are those? She made them to match her Desert Rose dishes. On the back she put her initials-that’s my favorite part.
When I got married, Grandma gave me this creamer and sugar bowl. They don’t match the rest of the dishes, but if you know me, I don’t like everything to match perfectly. The sugar spoon is real silver, also a gift from Grandma.
Adding a few pedestals I am able to have different levels for my table. The pedestal holding the teapot is a thrift store find. And the stand holding the cookies was a hand me down from my daughter.
Of course, there needs to be picture of the woman that most influenced my life for good. This is my mom’s Senior picture-isn’t she lovely? The Mother’s Day printable can be found here. These words fit my mom to a tee.
And, more pictures of my grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Because without them, I would not be who I am today. The book page candleholder is adorned with my great-grandmother’s lace and one of her broaches. My rose napkins were found at TJ Maxx.
{The lemon Crisp Cookie recipe will be on the blog later this week.}
The large plates are stacked in a barn wood box. Just the right texture and balance for this tablescape.
I think my table is ready for a Mother’s Day Tea, don’t you?
Mother’s Day has always been a relaxing day in our family. Lots of barbecues, time outside, kids running around, and visiting with the women in my family-my favorite time.
I hope you have been inspired to have a Mother’s Day Tea with the women in your life this Mother’s Day. Again, make it simple and enjoy time with your Mom(s).
