Ginger Snap Cookie Recipe From Scratch

May 4, 2020 By Meegan Leave a Comment

When I want a sweet treat with a little crunch and warm flavors, I make my Ginger Snap Cookie Recipe From Scratch. The soft center and spicy taste fills my sweet craving every time.

This cookie recipe is easy to make and full of flavor. AND cookies from scratch are not that hard to make. Let me show you how…

Ginger Snap Cookie Recipe From Scratch

Ingredients:

3/4 cup vegetable shortening

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 fresh egg

1/4 cup molasses

2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon salt

Granulated sugar

Directions:

Mix thoroughly in a stand mixer using a paddle attachment: shortening, brown sugar, egg and molasses until smooth and combined.

Blend in remaining ingredients, except granulated sugar.

Cover; chill 1 hour.

Heat oven to 375*. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls.

Dip tops into granulated sugar.

Place balls sugar side up, 3 inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake 10-12 minutes or just until set.

Immediately remove from cookie sheet and place on cooling rack.

Serve warm with a glass of cold milk, cup of hot tea or any drink of your choice.

This Ginger Snap Cookie Recipe From Scratch is a great “go to” snack without being too sweet. I mostly make them at Christmastime. But, when I need some comfort food or a quick treat for family gatherings, this is a great solution!

I hope you try this soon. I would love to hear about your successes and thoughts.
