It is a fun day for me to teach you How To Make Homemade Biscuits From Scratch. Our family LOVES Biscuits. Anytime of year, time or meal. We have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Especially with bacon gravy. Mmmm…Good!
This recipe is easy with just a few tips to guide you along the way.
If you like light and fluffy biscuits, then this is the recipe for you.
{How To Make Homemade Biscuits From Scratch}
2 1/2 cups white flour plus 1/4 cup for rolling out biscuits
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
Cut shortening into 2 1/2 cups flour, salt and baking powder until shortening pieces are smaller than peas. Pour in milk and begin to knead dough. If dough is too stiff, add 1 Tablespoon milk at a time. ( I like my dough a little sticky so it picks up the extra flour as I knead and roll out the dough)
Knead dough for 3 minutes. Roll out to 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into rounds with biscuit cutter or 3 inch glass.
Place on an ungreased baking sheet. The biscuits can be placed close together-up to a half an inch apart.
Bake at 400 (in a preheated oven) for 8-10 minutes. Or until tops are golden brown.
Tastes great with real butter and strawberry jam. Oh, of course with Bacon Gravy.
Once you and your family try this recipe the first time, you will be hooked. This is a recipe that you will keep in your files for years to come.
Oh! And did I mention how tasty they are with fried chicken or fried eggs? I hope you try them soon and let me know what you think.
