Hi everyone. I hope you are having a great day! We have some grandkiddos here and SO you KNOW it’s a blast. With swimming, eating, playing “Go Fish”, and more eating, we are having a lot of fun. BUT, I have been thinking that I needed to share my Vintage Rustic Pine Chest with you.
Not only is it the perfect size as a sofa table, the right color for contrast in our home, it was MADE by my grandpa.
You will see in the next few pictures why it is so special to me. This Vintage Rustic Pine Chest has been with me for 18 years now. AND it was probably built in the 40s or 50s. I am not sure which.
It has moved from California to Nevada and several times since. I have used it as a cedar chest, a chest at the foot of our bed, a window seat, and now a sofa table.
You can tell it is worn and beat up. I have wanted to paint it several times. BUT, I just can’t bring myself to do it.
It is an ideal place to keep mementos, newspaper clippings, baby books, etc… The tray on top is held by small strips of wood.
You can see the strip of wood I am talking about better in the picture above.
As a child, I can remember this Vintage Rustic Pine Chest being at the foot of the bed in the guest bedroom at grandma and grandpa’s house.
The vintage and worn hinges are just the right feel I like in our home. I don’t think I could ever paint those either.
Even the handles on each side have just the perfect patina that I like.
Another cool fact: The doily on top in this picture, was made specifically for this chest. My grandma crocheted each tiny stitch. You can see that is it a little worn for the ware, but, that’s what it is all about for me.
So, if you see my Vintage Rustic Pine Chest again, you will know the story behind it. I have always liked that vintage pieces have a story. Sometimes, I wish they could speak, and tell us their history. Don’t you???
Thanks for visiting today and letting me share something that I treasure with YOU.
Make it a beautiful day with those you love.
