It is Fall and the apples are ripe and crisp. My recipe for Fresh Apple Crisp From Scratch is on the menu for this coming weekend.

One of the reasons I like this recipe so much is that it you can serve it as delicious dessert AND perfect for breakfast as well.apple-crisp-from-scratch

Think about it..fresh apples, oats, butter, sugar and flour. This recipe is even healthier than pancakes or biscuits and gravy.

Fresh Apple Crisp From Scratch

makes 5-6 servings

Ingredients:

5 fresh apples-cored, peeled and sliced thin ( I slice mine on a mandolin)

juice from 1 lemon

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup oats

3/4 tsp cinnamon

3/4 nutmeg

1/3 cup butter (melted)

Place sliced apples in 8×8 buttered dish

Squirt juice from lemon over apples

Mix brown sugar, flour, oats, butter and spices, thoroughly until creamy

Bake 30 minutes at 375* or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown

To serve as a dessert, top with whipped cream or ice cream.

For breakfast, serve with a glass of milk or pour milk into serving bowl.

This Fresh Apple Crisp From Scratch is a recipe you will want to keep in your recipe file for a very long time.

Like I said, it is a versatile recipe for your family, guests, or for a Fall dinner. (Even breakfast if you prefer.) Every time I have made the Fresh Apple Crisp From Scratch, it is gone in one sitting. I hope you enjoy this as much as we do.

And before I forget…A yummy variation for this recipe would be to use 1 can (1 lb. 5oz.) canned cherry pie filling for the apples; use lesser amount of sugar.

Thank you for joining me today. I am always excited to see your comments and ideas.

Have a wonderful day.
