Deliciously Fresh Apples and Bananas Breakfast

January 15, 2014 By Meegan 3 Comments

Are you ever looking for a NEW recipe for breakfast??  I ALWAYS am.  I want something without too much sugar or too many carbs.  Sometimes it is hard to find a balance, isn’t it?  WELL, I have a SUPER simple idea for you.  Deliciously Fresh Apples and Bananas Breakfast.

This breakfast only has a few ingredients. Not only that, but you probably have all of them in your frig or pantry already.

My MIL would eat this almost on a daily basis for breakfast.  At first, when I saw her making it, I thought, “Ew, gross.”  After I tried this, It has become a mainstay breakfast in our home.

The recipe for Deliciously Fresh Apples and Bananas Breakfast is:

1 apple, chopped

1 whole banana, sliced

1 handful raw, sliced almonds

1 1/2 handfuls raw oats (not quick cooking)

Using a spoon, gently mix all ingredients in a bowl.

This could easily serve 2.  BUT, I can eat this whole mixture myself.  That’s how much I like it.

We made this for our kids while they were growing up.  They weren’t too keen on eating raw, uncooked oats.  But most of them didn’t mind at all. Rather than make them it what they don’t like-we would make each bowl specific for each child’s likes and dislikes.

Believe is or not, this will fill you up fast. Each flavor from the individual ingredients compliment each other very well.

Try switching up the variety of apple you use, as well.  If you are in the mood for a tart and sweet flavor, try using a Granny Smith apple sometime.  Our favorite is the flavor is a Fuji Apple.

You can also use pecans or walnuts instead of almonds.  (I am allergic to walnuts and pecans, so I always use almonds)

Mmmmm…Deliciously Fresh Apples and Bananas Breakfast is SO YUM!

I hope you try this soon and let me know how you like it.

What a wonderful simple and healthy breakfast. And your timing is perfect. I’m in the middle of a banana themed link party on my website. I would love for you to link it up to the party so my readers can try it out too.

Great healthy recipe – more people should eat like this instead of cereals that are loaded with artificial ingredients and filled with unhealthy grains. I have twitted and pinned. Thanks for sharing.
