2nd Annual Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals

October 6, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

I am cozy back in my home.  After a 2 week trip back east and to Washington D.C., it’s nice to be home.  It was an informative, fun, grandbaby kissing, touristing, kind of trip and it was a blast!  I have never been that far east, so I was soaking in everything I possibly could.  Pictures to come soon.  I am enjoying the warm weather as long as I can, her in the desert.  Because all too soon, I won’t be able to enjoy the pool and wearing flip flops for too much longer.

The REAL reason I am writing this post is all about helping animal shelters.  Did you know that some thrift stores in your town help fund sheltered animals?  I didn’t either. I found out last year when I participated in the very first Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals.  What a great cause, right?

This past weekend over 10+ bloggers shopped at their local thrift stores to help with the Thrift Benefit for Sheltered animals.  We shopped for anything creative we could find, with a DIY project in mind.  I have my loot and I am excited to show you what I found. (I did share 3 tiny items I found on Instagram) BUT, the rest will have to wait until the link party.

On October 14th each of us will share what we found and our DIY projects made from thrift finds for the 2nd Annual Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals.  How exciting is that???

I will have more details soon, but until then, take a minute and Google Animal Shelter Thrift Shops in your town, county or city.  Head on over there and help support YOUR local animal shelters by purchasing thrifted goods.

All this week I will be getting ready for the 2nd Annual Thrift Benefit for Sheltered Animals and choosing pictures from my trip to share with YOU.

Before you leave my blog today, don’t forget to check out the Inspiration Monday Party and ALL the eye candy...

Make it a wonderful Monday filled with those you love.

The Monday Blues For Paint Palette

February 24, 2014 By Meegan 8 Comments

I’ve got the Monday Blues for Paint Palette colors.  And I am happy to share them with you today.  It’s always enjoyable to browse through paint stores and aisles at the various colors of paint.  It’s probably one of my fave things to do, besides holding the grandbabies or to hold Hubby’s hand.

I think there are probably guidelines and interior design rules of how many colors you should/could have in your home.  And, if you know me at all, you KNOW I don’t like perfect things.  I like rustic, worn, and chippy, so I guess I don’t follow the interior design rules.  And I am JUST fine with that.

Why?  Well, because I am comfortable in my home, and if more than 3 colors make me smile, then that’s what I am going to use.  To me it’s all about being comfortable in your home.  Don’t you think so, too?

I share my makeovers and ideas with you all the time.  I thought it would be fun to show you the color palette for our home along with various pieces of furniture and accessories.

color-palette-collage labeled

1. Ocean Mist is from Clark and Kensington is the color of one wall in our living room.

2. Summer Sonnet  from Ace Hardware is painted on our bedroom wall and on my thrifted coffee table.

3. Antique Coral is one of the colors on our dining room set and my “bathroom” door.

4. Hint of Olive is from Clark and Kensington at Ace Hardware is on a wall in our TV Room/Office.

5. Snow Cap White is used it to is painted in every room in our home.

6. Shark Loop from Valspar in used on the dining room set and our thrifted buffet.

7. Teal Lake from BHG has been used a few times on makeovers such as my Floating Frame Gallery and my Beach Bench.

8. Another color I use quite often is: Turquoise Mist by Olympic Paint  I have painted several pieces of furniture and accessories using this color.

Often times I mix any one of these colors with white to bring a whole new level of color into our home.  It adds dimension and depth that way.

Turquoise Mist has a special place in my heart.  It is the first can of paint I bought to start transforming our home into a lighter, brighter place to live.  We when moved in our condo, here, everything we owned was dark green, bright red, gold, and even touches of purple.   It was awesome at the time we purchased it, but it was time for me to move on.

These are the colors that make me smile.  They calm my spirit.  They work perfectly in our home.

What colors are your favorite?  What color calms YOUR soul??

Thanks for joining me today while I’ve got the Monday Blues for paint palette.

Make it a blue Monday!

DIY Chalkboard Labeled Bathroom Bottles

February 14, 2014 By Meegan Leave a Comment

[slideshow_deploy id=’6144′]

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!  This past week has been full, fun and exciting!  I made another Pinterest Party craft and I am excited to share it with you.  My DIY Chalkboard Labeled Bathroom Bottles are SO EASY.  They look fabulous in your bathroom or even a guest bath for visitors.  I think they would even be a great gift for a guest to take home with them.

You will love how easy and simple this craft is.  I will be sharing it at the Michaels Hometalk Party on Sunday.

I bought 3 different sizes of bottles.  I liked the various shapes, as well.  You can get all the same color and shape if you wish.  There were lots of colors to choose from:  yellow, hot pink, green and aqua.

To fill each bottle, I carefully poured the shampoo and body wash into the smaller bottles.  But when it came to the bath salts.  That was a little more tricky.  Using a piece of computer paper, I twisted it into a cone and placed it in the bottle.

Using a measuring cup, I carefully poured the bath salts into the paper cone.  I was careful not to spill or over pour the salts.  Patience was the key to not making a huge mess.

Once my jars were full, I placed a chalkboard label on each bottle.  Using the chalk that came with the labels, I wrote the name of each ingredient in the bottles.  I tried adding a little flair for fun.

I like to use jute anywhere I can.  It’s a creativite way to add some personality to a gift, jar or even my DIY Chalkboard Labeled Bathroom Bottles.  I wrapped the jute around the top of the bottle and tied a simple knot at the top to hold it together.

Since chalkboards are all the rage right now, these will look just fab in the bathroom sitting on a vintage china tray.  Adding a wash cloth tied with jute, also adds the perfect touch, don’t you think???

If you are following me on any social media, you will see that I have been talking, instagraming, and tweeting all about theMichaels Hometalk Pinterest Craft I have been working on!  It is so exciting to be paired up with Michaels and Hometalk.

If YOU want to attend a Pinterest Party, Michaels is having one at EACH and EVERY one of their stores in the US and Canada!  Yep, isn’t that awesome???  The exciting part about it, is that Michaels and Hometalk asked 100 bloggers to help them host the party.  So, YOU might get to meet a blogger when you attend your Michaels Hometalk Pinterest Party this Sunday!  For more information and all the details look here.

I hope you will visit your local Michaels this Sunday and make a craft that you have pinned.  Now, you have a set time to make it your own, instead of just looking at it on your Pinterest Board.  Sounds fun to me!!

I can’t wait to meet and craft with some of you and/or your friends!!

Make it a Happy Valentines Day!
