Homemade Banana Cake with Butter Cream Frosting Recipes

March 1, 2021 By Meegan Leave a Comment

When looking for a sweet treat, whether it’s for dessert or even for breakfast, my Homemade Banana Cake with Butter Cream Frosting Recipes is just what I crave. Especially since each one is made from scratch with fresh ingredients.

Using ripe bananas, fresh organic eggs, real buttermilk and real butter these recipes could not be better, right?

I’m excited to share this recipe so you can have it on hand and ready for any occasion or as a treat for yourself.

Homemade Banana Cake with Butter Cream Frosting Recipes

Pre-heat oven to 350*

Cake Ingredients:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

1 2/3 cups granulated sugar

1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

2/3 real butter, softened

2/3 cup  buttermilk

3 eggs

1 1/4 cup mashed bananas

2/3 cup pecans, chopped

Grease and flour 9×13 baking pan.

Measure all ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

Blend 1/2 minute on low speed scraping bowl constantly.

Beat 3 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.

Pour into greased pan.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes depending on oven. When a wooden pick is inserted and comes out clean, cake is done.

*While cake is baking, make homemade butter cream frosting.

Butter Cream Frosting Ingredients:

3 cups powdered sugar

1/3 cup REAL butter (softened)

2 Tablespoons whole milk

1 tsp REAL vanilla

1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)

Whip butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Gradually add milk and flavorings. Continue whipping for about 2 more minutes. Your frosting should look almost pure white.

When cake has cooled, sprinkle chopped pecans on top and you are ready to serve!

These Homemade Banana Cake with Butter Cream Frosting Recipes are so good served with a cold glass of milk or your favorite hot beverage. On the side with fresh fruit, it makes a delectable breakfast or brunch addition.

To me, it’s all about the fresh buttermilk in the cake recipe and the almond extract in the frosting recipe. The flavor combination is like no other. I love it and I hope you like it, too.

Make it a great day.
