Scone and Devonshire Cream Recipes

June 23, 2017 By Meegan 1 Comment

Last year in early Spring I hosted a tea party several of my friends came over and I have many memories from the day. You know I am all about a good recipe, right? One recipe that I remember are the Scone and Devonshire Cream Recipes. I am telling you, they are to die for.

I invited my friend, Sherida. I was excited for her to attend the tea party because she is well-know for her own tea parties. I mean, she goes all out. From vintage tea pots, several pairs of gloves and you should see her hat collection! Incredible!

To my delight she offered to make and bring her own Scone and Devonshire Cream Recipes. How could I turn her down?

Since then I have been craving this delectable delight. Thanks to Sherida, I can make the Scone and Devonshire Cream Recipes whenever I am craving them.

Tropical Scones

Mix:

4 cups all-purpose flour

3 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

7 Tablespoons granulated sugar

2 cubes soft butter

Add:

1 1/2 cups buttermilk

5 oz. candied pineapple or mango-or both

3/4 cup shredded coconut

Drop soft dough onto cookie sheet.

Bake at 375* until crusty on outside-or slightly golden on bottom-TOPS SHOULD NOT BE GOLDEN (approximately 14 minutes, depending on size desired)

Makes 44 small scones or 36 large.

Candied fruit may be omitted for a delicious basic scone recipe.

Devonshire Cream

8 oz cream cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

3/4 cup powdered sugar

Mix altogether until creamy with no lumps.

The best thing about the Scone and Devonshire Cream Recipes? You don’t have to have a tea party to enjoy them. BUT, I can almost guarantee that they are better eaten with your party hat and gloves on. Well, maybe not, but is fun to dream, right?
