Butter Cream Frosting

February 18, 2016 By Meegan 1 Comment

Hey everyone! I am so glad to see you here today. My days have been filled with sunny weather, grand-kids, food, parties, swimming, food and more food. When we get together as a family I like to make treats from scratch. And my own recipe for Butter Cream Frosting is on the top of that list.

Have you ever made Butter Cream Frosting from scratch? It is really easy and tastes SO much better than store bought.

One of the REAL tricks to making Butter Cream Frosting from scratch is the fresh ingredients; like REAL butter and REAL vanilla.

From the time I first learned how to cook, I was making my own Butter Cream Frosting. It takes just a few ingredients and after a few times, you will have it down like a science.

Butter Cream Frosting

{Meegan’s Butter Cream Frosting Recipe}

3 cups powdered sugar

1/3 cup REAL butter (softened)

2 Tablespoons whole milk

1 tsp REAL vanilla

1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)

Whip butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Gradually add milk and flavorings. Continue whipping for about 2 more minutes. Your frosting should look almost pure white.

This is enough frosting for a 8 inch round, double layered cake or 3 dozen sugar cookies.

I like the addition of the almond flavoring, but that is totally up to you.

This frosting is ideal for my Soft Sugar Cookies. or my own recipe for a Naked Cake, And for a chocolate variation, try my Almond Cocoa Frosting Recipe.

So the next time you need frosting, try making your own Butter Cream Frosting. You will be impressed. That is a promise.
